Ladies and gentlemen, if you see your barista serving fellow coffee fiends what looks like pints of beer early in the AM, stay calm; they’re not getting you boozy before you bounce into the office. Rather, they’re offering a clean and crisp morning caffeine kick.
Generally speaking, none of us here at Sporteluxe HQ would be caught drinking anything that comes out of a beer tap. For Harbourside Coffee Co, however, we now make an exception. The founders behind this hot new Draught Coffee trend, Jason Shein and Justin Gutman, debuted their clever concoction this week at our favourite Sydney city watering hole: Pablo and Rusty’s on Castlereagh Street.
So, what exactly is draught coffee?
Simply put, its clean cold-brew coffee infused with nitrogen to give it a creamy, clean texture, with a beer-like appearance. No dairy, no sugar, no preservatives; simply clean cold-brew coffee produced in a different way to showcase the bean’s distinct flavour.
Boasting smooth, aromatic, full-bodied, chocolate flavours and hints of citrus, these coffee connoisseurs have worked to perfect their Harbourside Draught and be sure they’re pouring the best quality brew in Sydney.
By naming it draught coffee, they’ve also cleverly set it up to be as much as an early evening treat as it is midday hit for the inner city suits in the CBD. Already a huge hit in the United States and Melbourne (widely regarded as Australia’s coffee capital – perhaps until now?) Shein and Gutman have started with Pablo and Rusty’s as a launch pad before expanding into various other cafes across Sydney.
Harbourside Coffee Co is currently available at Pablo and Rusty’s on Castlereagh St in the Sydney CBD.
